Blog 5: Blunt/Carnahan and Framing

In the article on missourinet.com titled, Carnahan: Blunt bolting on debates, talks about how Roy Blunt keeps backing out of debating Robin Carnahan.  The issue that is given prominence in this article is how Blunt seemed to agree to do six debates this month but has since backed out and is only agreeing to do two of them now. Blunt said “they would not take part in either of those debates and stated that under no circumstance would they do debates on network affiliates,”. Tony Wyche, a spokesperson for Carnahan stated that, “Their claim was that they felt singling out one network affiliate would upset other network affiliates, which is odd, since they originally proposed ‘Meet the Press’ on NBC and ‘Fox News Sunday,’ which are exclusive to specific networks.” It seems like Carnahans people are trying to show that Blunt is afraid to debate her because he thinks he will lose the debate and possibly lose his lead. Carnahans group does a good job of showing that Blunt does not want to debate her.
