Blog 12: What I learned…

During this course on political communications, we discussed a variety of different topics ranging from journalism during wartime to how to effectively use media during campaigns to assigning if the media is biased.  Being a political science major and a hopeful politician in the future, I really enjoyed learning the content of the first half of the semester.  Some of the information from the Iyengar and McGrady was assumed knowledge but most of the substance was very interesting and beneficial to learn how to use the media and analyze the different messages that media and journalism presents.  Beyond that, I really did not find the book Republic.com 2.0 to be very interesting.  A whole book on blogs and the methods and means of political blogging just didn’t appeal to me.

All in all, I really enjoyed this course.  I like the small classroom atmosphere and the opportunity for open forum/discussion.
