Blog 7: Political News

If Republicans and Democrats get their news from different places, I do not think it is inherently a good or bad thing. As we discussed in class today, pretty much no news remains “objective”, there will always be an air of subjectivity of the journalists, because we as humans all have opinions on things.

If a person with more Democratic/Liberal views on things want to watch MSNBC, and read the more left leaning New York Times, they should be able to do so. I believe that as humans, we are attracted to people/things with similarities to us. We are going to be attracted to the things with similar views as us.

Also, if people with more Conservative/Republican views want to watch FOX News, and read more right leaning newspapers, they should do so.

I know that with my personal experiences, I will tend to gravitate towards types of news that agree with my views on politics. As long as the information being reported is correct, Democrats and Republicans should feel free to view the news of their choice.

So, if you gravitate toward information that fits with your views, how do you ever know if this information is “correct?”
