Blog 3: Boehner’s Enacted Bills Compared to Past Speakers

  1. This article compares the number of bills Speaker of the House John Boehner enacted compared to past speakers. This is important because he announced his resignation this past weekend and could deeply effect the relationship between the two parties in Congress.
  2. This data was recorded with GovTrack. GovTrack is a website that collects quantitative data of members of Congress and other representatives, such as voting records.
  3. The article showed the lowest rate of bills enacted by a Speaker was Boehner, and the article defends him because he had to work with two other Democrats. What I would like to know from this data is how did political affliation affect bills enacted for other Speakers.
