Blog 7: Americans see U.S. losing ground against mental illness, prescription drug abuse

  1. This article explains how some people in the U.S. feel about the progress taken towards different diseases and mental illnesses. The article found that more than half Americans (54%) felt that the nation was making progress against cancer. The article also found that only 16% felt that that progress was being made on  prescription drug abuse and 19% felt that there was progress on mental health.
  2. The majority of this data was collected from a survey conducted by Pew Research Center on October 30th through November 6th 3013. There was also secondary data collected from the American Cancer Society, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Food & Drug Administration.
  3. My question is why do so little Americans feel like mental health is not making any progress in this country, do they think that it is not prioritized?
